The Conference Caddy™ (pat. pend.), A Novel “Hands Free” Device To Suspend A Load From A Garment Belt and/or Shoulder Strap and for Attachment of Promotional Message or Adornment. The Conference Caddy™ was created as a “Hands Free” apparatus to support a bag, purse, case, box, container, cable, or cordage or other item or load, from a belt or in conjunction with a shoulder strap, to free the hands up for more productive uses. It was also designed to be a promotional “give away” or advertising premium item. It was created to solve a pervasive problem associated with doing business at conventions and conferences, meetings, trade shows, working on construction sites and projects and shopping. While a convention prospector is perusing the miles of isles and booths, his / her hands are normally tied up holding bags of important brochures, literature and promotional items, thus preventing the use of the hands and arms to greet, exchange business cards, write notes, to gesticulate and interact with exhibitors and displayed products. For decades the inventor attended many meetings, trade shows, conferences and conventions, worked on projects, on job sites and as a shopper as well; all requiring the carrying of bags of brochures, products and supplies to and fro, aggravating a back injury. These activities, especially conventions, normally run from the morning into the evening and while prospecting a convention, an attendee tends to amass a substantial quantity of literature, products and promotional items. Because bags, even when sparsely loaded, tend to weigh many pounds and are normally carried in hands and arms for long hours, the prolonged support of all this weight is transferred through the shoulders and torso to settle in the attendees' back and spine, compressing the disks between the vertebrae. Over time, this causes considerable discomfort and pain, often leading to permanent damage, not only in the back itself, but in the legs and surrounding tissue as well. This makes for a very unpleasant, debilitating and inefficient experience, at times serious enough to impair and hinder movement so as to prevented completion of ones intended purpose. To take the weight off his shoulders and back, the inventor created the Conference Caddy™. The result? An ergonomic posture that allows for a natural unencumbered hands free attitude, and relieved degenerative effect on the back, thus allowing for comfortable hands free movement and better communication with gesticulation for greeting, hand shakes, business card exchange, writing of notes, handling of exhibited objects, cell-phone, PDA, etc. In short, it produced a much more enjoyable and effective experience. The purpose of the invention is to surpass the function of the scabbard, by taking the load out of ones' hands and off the back and shoulders and distribute the weight squarely on the hips where it tends to ride much more comfortably, reducing if not eliminating the prospects of physical pain and injury, especially for someone who has suffered back trauma, while creating a natural, comfortable, ergonomic "hands free" posture for free unencumbered movement while attending conferences and conventions, on job sites or for use while shopping or as an everyday general use accessory for optimal efficiency. The invention also provides for the placement of an article of embellishment, On construction sites where tools, power cords, rope and the like are transferred from a vehicle or truck to the job, this invention can be utilized to carry appropriate items, leaving the arms and hands free to carry other items, thereby reducing the number and time necessary to make additional trips that would otherwise be required without it. This invention can be used as an accessory for shopping at malls or other places of business where shopping carts are not customarily available to carry purchased goods from one shop to the next and then back to the car or if walking, carrying goods home from the super market. In these days of economic turmoil, there are more homeless people on the streets than ever before and it is natural that these unfortunate folks desire to protect their personal belongings by taking them with them. In the past we can all recall seeing people with shopping carts filled with personal effects. Because shopping carts are very expensive, most shopping carts used in this manner have been expropriated from markets and shopping center parking lots and such, most communities have made it illegal to use shopping carts in this manner. This invention allows the less fortunate the ability to transport a more comprehensive selection of bags and cases, containing his / her personal property and necessities, without having to resort to illegal means. Realizing that there are many companies at conventions who provide promotional bags, product line brochures and literature, samples, pens, rulers, calendars, etc., all of which are destined to be carried up and down the miles of isles, for hours on end, in promotional bags, a promotional opportunity was created. The Conference Caddy™ is designed to be so inexpensive as to be considered a “give away” promotional item which also incorporates a surface where an individual or company can mark it with his / her company or brand name, logo and contact information or promotional message or even bejeweled with a decorative artifact as an accessory for formal attire. One cannot truly appreciate the value of the Conference Caddy™ until one has taken it on a test drive for a day at ones most grueling convention. For this reason please find your free sample and for perfect, balance a second Conference Caddy™ for your other hip. |
